Project Phases and Assessment
The Project Report
Our project guides you through the process of conducting and writing a project report. In SL Proj. 001 each team's report will consist of the following parts:
- Abstract. A paragraph that summarises the whole report.(Phase Four)
- Introduction. A brief discussion of lifelong learning and a rationale for the project. (Phase one)
- Background Research. An overview of your research into your team's chosen lifelong learning characteristic. (Phase two)
- The Lifelong Learning Activity. Describe your activity, the data to be collected and how it will be analysed. (Phase three)
- Feedback from participants. A brief description of your results.(Phase three)
- Discussion. Use your data to analyse the effectiveness of your activity.(Phase three)
- Conclusion.Make recommendations and draw implications based on your research. (Phase four)
- References. A list of the resources you have cited in the report. (All phases)
- Appendices. Additional materials to support your research. This will include your session plan. (All phases)
Project Phases
SL Proj 001 is divided into four phases. Each phase is important and for a detailed schedule and phase outcomes please click here. Briefly here is a description of each phase.
Phase One
SL Proj. 001 weeks 1 to 4. (SL Weeks 2 to 5)
Research into lifelong learning. Use written sources and a lecture to write an individual Introduction to the project report.
Form teams. Agree a team contract. Identify a specific lifelong learning characteristic to research as a team.
Choose a specific lifelong learning characteristic. As a team identify a lifelong learning characteristic to research further. This will be the characteristic you will promote through the activity in phase 3.

Phase Two
SL Proj. 001 weeks 5 to 7. (SL Weeks 6 to 8)
Research into your chosen lifelong learning characteristic. Identify individual sources & take detailed notes.
Synthesise your sources. Use your individual notes to identify relevant information for your Background Research.
Record part of your discussion. LP task #4.
Write a team Background Research.
Attend the Team Tutorial Meeting. Reflect on the first two phases of the project with your teacher.

Phase Three
SL Proj. 001 weeks 8 to 11. (SL Weeks 9 to 12)
Identify an activity to promote your chosen lifelong learning characteristic. Write a session plan.
Participant Feedback. Identify the type of data you would like to collect from activity participants.
Lifelong learning activity and presentation. Deliver the activity and short presentation of the results of your research into the lifelong learning characteristic at the SL lifelong learning day. Collect feedback from participants.
Reflect. Individually reflect on your activity.
Feedback from participants. Describe the data you collected.
Discussion. Individually reflect on the results then as a team synthesise your ideas.
Write your Conclusions. As a team decide on the implications of your research and any recommendations you have.

Assessment in SL Proj. 001
This part of the assessment focuses on your research into Lifelong learning and how this is reflected in your project report. It also includes the individual piece of writing from phase one and the way you deliver your activity on the project day. As always we expect high quality work in these areas and this will also be reflected in your Quality of Work score.

This component is about the quality of work and the effort you put into producing high quality work throughout the whole project. Your teacher will give you a Quality of Work score for most weeks of the project.

- Producing work of a personally high standard.

- Keeping your teacher informed of your team's progress.
- Recording your discussion in phase two.

- Describing skills, knowledge and attitudes you developed or learned during the phase.

In this section we assess the project report you and your team produce as well as your individual writing in phase one and the way you deliver your lifelong learning activity. As always we expect high quality work and your work will also be reflected on a weekly basis by the Quality of Work score.
